Sound Problems in Windows 10, 8. Almost every new version of Windows brought sound problems to some of its users, and Windows 10 is not different. The audio troubleshooter says that the device is disabled in windows both speakers and headphones but does not fix it. The volume mixer shows no audio devices installed, but the Device Manager shows them there and working properly. The Sound pop up from control panel shows the same, but I cannot disable or change default devices, they just all stay enabled. Typing in services. Frustrated, I restored to before the critical update I could get it started in safe mode but it wouldn’t load my wireless mouse drivers and so when Do you want to Restore your system to an earlier point popped up I couldn’t respond and was stuck there.
Fortunately, I was able to borrow a friend’s wired mouse and then start up repair fixed the issue. And oh, yay! My sound worked again! So I disabled Windows Automatic Updates and only installed the about 9 important updates.
Guess what. Now the sound doesn’t work again. SO I tried uninstalling the updates one by one to try to find the culprit. It didn’t let me uninstall all of them and none of those that I did uninstall made a difference. So I just reinstalled them. And no sound. Please help. This thread is locked.
